Intense heat, 50% humidity and drifting smoke made it tough for everyone in Kuala Lumpur today but it couldn’t stop Fernando Alonso from winning the Malaysian Grand Prix. This makes it two in a row for Renault.
Jarno Trulli finished second, scoring the first ever podium for Toyota and Nick Heidfeld was third for Williams.

Rain on Saturday gave the pole to Giancarlo Fisichella but a masterful drive and good pit work earned him the victory at the the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne today. With his teammate Fernando Alonso finishing third it was a great day for Renault.
Michael Schumacher retired after an accident but at least Rubens Barrichello finished second to keep Ferrari’s streak of podium finishes alive.
