Michael Schumacher Wins 2001 Monaco GP

Michael Schumacher led from start to finish after pole-sitter David Coulthard’s McLaren stalled on the grid before the warm-up lap thanks to a failure in the launch control. Coulthard who then had to start from the back of the grid managed to score a couple of points for fifth place in a — usual for Monaco — race of high attrition with only 10 finishers.

Eddie Irvine scores the first points of the year and the first podium finish ever for Jaguar. Jean Alesi also scores the first point this year for Prost.
