Robert Kubica has been disqualified from the Hungarian Grand Prix because his BMW was found to be underweight in the post-race technical inspection.
The race stewards accepted that there was no intentional wrongdoing and BMW attributed the matter to unexpectedly severe tyre wear to his wet weather tyres once the track began to dry out.
As this was his first Formula 1 race he can be forgiven but next time he will have to remember to run farther off of the racing line on his cool-down lap to pick up more of the rubber and dirt which collects on the edges of the track.
Kubica’s disqualification means that Michael Schumacher moves up to eighth place and will score a single championship point after all.
