After months of speculation and rumour the 2006 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francorchamps has officially been cancelled. It seems that despite earlier financial and political issues the race was called off because they simply could not finish the planned upgrades to the facility in time for the September race date.
This leaves the door open for a return to Spa next year but that might not be very likely as the FIA is trying to reduce the number of races in the future.
