Giancarlo Fisichella Wins 2005 Australian GP

Rain on Saturday gave the pole to Giancarlo Fisichella but a masterful drive and good pit work earned him the victory at the the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne today. With his teammate Fernando Alonso finishing third it was a great day for Renault.

Michael Schumacher retired after an accident but at least Rubens Barrichello finished second to keep Ferrari’s streak of podium finishes alive.
